Galactic address — cosmic zoom and galactic scales simulation

Zoom from the Milky Way and Sagittarius A* down to Orion Spur, the Solar System, and Earth's orbit. Traverse cosmic scales across 16 orders of magnitude.

How it works

Cosmic zoom across 16 orders of magnitude — from the barred spiral Milky Way and Sagittarius A* down to the Orion Spur, Solar System, and Earth's orbit with the International Space Station.

Five nested scales with continuous camera transitions: 1. Milky Way: ~100,000 light-years across, barred spiral structure (SBbc) with four major spiral arms (Perseus, Scutum-Centaurus, Sagittarius-Carina, Outer) and our "YOU ARE HERE" beacon in the Orion Spur at ~26,600 light-years. 2. Galactic Center & Sagittarius A*: Relativistic accretion disk with Doppler beaming, photon sphere, and star S2 on an eccentric orbit around the 4.3 million solar mass black hole. 3. Orion Spur & Solar Neighborhood: Local Bubble dust and distance rings (10, 20, 30 ly) showing Alpha Centauri, Sirius, Vega, Procyon, and nearby neighbors. 4. Solar System: The Sun with eight Keplerian planetary orbits and an asteroid belt band. 5. Earth & ISS: Earth blue marble with atmospheric rim, Moon orbit (384,400 km), and the ISS circling at 408 km altitude with live telemetry.
